This special Katana sword is an extraordinary piece presented by Tozando
with collaboration of WKC in Solingen, Germany. We offer you the five different
models for your needs and each blade is handmade and such the Japanese
fitings as Tsuba, Menuki, Fuchi/Kashira, Tsuka cord and sageo are used
on all ranges.
The stainless steel blade features a sandblasted Hamon and is suitable
for Iai practice. This is rather a steel blade version of Iaito sword.
The spring steel blade is designed mainly for the contact practice. The
blade is made of durable spring steel(C55Si7 - USA: Steel 1055). Due to
the characteristics of material used, the sandblasted hamon is less visible than other models.
For carbon steel blade Katana sword, we use high carbon steel (C105W- USA:
Steel 1095), hard-forged and hardened by traditional clay-wrapping method.
This model is also a great example of the cost efficiency.
The folded carbon steel blade is made of 13-time-folded, hand-forged carbon
steel (C45 & C55Si7- USA: Steel 1095) to create 8192 layers. By using
the traditional clay-wrapping method, not only does the blade get hardened
but shows the aesthetic grains of hada.
The flagship model among all is this folded tamahagane blade Katana sword
whose blade is hard-forged from two different types of steel. That is,
we use the softer Tamahagane steel with low carbon and the harder Tamahagane
steel embedded into the softer one. This forging technique is based on
the traditional Japanese sword making, Makuri, passed down to the chosen
smiths in Japan for centuries. These two steels are combined and forged
in multiple times to create the 32768 layers, and the traditional clay-wrapping
method is applied. After the forging process, each blade is passed to the
polisher who does the extraordinary hand-polishing work. The unique hada
grains and beautiful hamonline become visible.
